2022 Bluefish Program

We worked with another group of awesome kids who learned to swim with + POOL in Summer 2022.  We were proud of the progress the Bluefish students made throughout the season. These students overcame their fears of the water and dedicated themselves to learning a new life-saving skill, which we think is pretty rad!

On August 15th, we celebrated these swimmers with a graduation ceremony at our CitySplash! community day where students received a certificate of completion. 🙂

Learning to swim is a critical life skill but costs money!  We remain grateful to the amazing people who came together to raise support for the 2022 program. In the Spring, our ambassadors (shout out to Fleur Sohtz, George Fontas, Tevin Williams, Dan Daly, Warren Perry, Kristina Nungaray, Archie Lee Coates IV, Melinda Wang, and Michael Chambers!), participated in a crowdfunding campaign that raised funds to teach these kids to swim and make this program possible.  Special thanks also to Physique Swimming for coaching, Finis for providing swim gear, Elissa Levy & Virginia Inés Vergar for designing special pool towels for the swimmers, and to Village East Swim Club and Seahorse Fitness for the pool time. Huge shout out to NYCHA for continuing to work with us to get kids enrolled in the program who need it most.
