New Assessment Protocol for NYC...thanks to us!
Guess what? The NYC Health Department, teamed up with state agencies, just dropped the coolest thing: a Site Assessment Protocol for innovative water projects that don’t quite fit the mold at first glance. And guess who’s responsible for this game-changer? Yeah, you guessed it — we are. Our idea for + POOL ignited a grassroots movement that is not only bringing + POOL to life but also led to the creation of new health standards supporting public access to waters across the city and state.
Now, this protocol isn’t your run-of-the-mill paperwork. It’s a roadmap, guiding these unique projects through a phased evaluation to make sure they’re as safe as they are fun. Think health, safety, environment – all the good stuff. These new standards, a direct result of the amazing community behind + POOL that has advocated tirelessly for regulatory reform around public access to our water; are now up on the city Health Department’s website. This is setting the stage for future design projects, especially with Governor Hochul’s recent announcement of a $60M fund for public pools.
And here’s the kicker: if you’ve got a genius workaround for those health standards, they’re all ears. This protocol isn’t just about saying “no” – it’s about finding a way to say “heck yes!” So, get ready for a whole new era of pools all across the city, as NY’s waters will look very different in the next ten years when more New Yorkers have safe access to them!
